Workshop 202406 - Simplifying the Landscape - Fiona Verdouw
'Simplifying the Landscape'
for oil and acrylic painters
A 2-day workshop with Fiona Verdouw
Thursday & Friday, 27th - 28th June 2024, 9:30am to 3:30pm
Lady Franklin Gallery
(non-members are welcome to register)
Learn how to paint contemporary representational landscapes using oils or acrylics and reference photos.
In this two-day workshop, alla-prima oil painter Fiona Verdouw will teach you how to simplify a scene into manageable areas and shapes, whilst using values, colour and tone to bring depth and dynamics to your painting.
Participants will learn essential colour theory and composition skills. Guidance will be given in mixing believable landscape colours and applying various brushwork techniques using the alla-prima (wet into wet) painting method.
This workshop is best suited to those already comfortable with using oils or acrylic paint and who already have some understanding of basic colour theory.
Students should come prepared with enough of their own tools and materials to create1 - 2 small landscape paintings on their chosen support (canvas, panel, primed paper).
